About IAVF

Company history

1980

Founding of IAVF Institut für Angewandte Verschleißforschung GmbH by Dr. Andreas Gervé & Ilona Erbacher Gervé. The company focused on wear analysis via radionuclide technology (RNT). The portfolio of services was expanded to include functional testing of motor properties such as oil consumption & gas content in lubricant, as well as vibration analyses, exhaust testing and functional endurance testing.

IAVF becomes an independent engine developer.

1999

IAVF Volke Prüfzentrum GmbH – or IVP for short – is founded in cooperation with VOLKE Entwicklungsring GmbH. Services offered by IVP GmbH include developing combustion engines through functional testing and endurance tests.

2008

Acquisition by APL Automobil-Prüftechnik Landau GmbH.

2010

30 year company anniversary. IAVF Antriebstechnik GmbH employs around 150 staff members and operates approx. 50 engine test benches.

2012

Commissioning of the large engine testing facility with a test bench capacity for engines up to 4 MW.

2013

Commissioning of the small engine testing facility, specially designed to test smaller engines up to 5,5 kW.

2015

35 year company anniversary. IAVF employs around 190 staff members and operates approx. 80 test benches.

2018

IAVF has approx. 60 full engine test benches and approx. 25 component test benches.
